Poem: Not Fair

Tears spill
Sobs flee
Noses turn up
Eyes of disgust
Not fair, not fair.
And sitting
And crying
They leave
Ignore
Not fair, not fair.
Betrayed
And hurt
Fourteen
And a thief
Not fair, not fair.
He’s guilty
She’s true
He lies
She cries
Not fair, not fair.
Nine months
Of pain
Nine months
Of fault
Not fair, not fair.
A child’s child
Thirteen years
They share
She cries
Not fair, not fair.
No justice
Just nonsense
She lives
So strong
Not fair, not fair.
It lives
She lives
They live
He lives
Not fair, not fair.
A cry
A tear
A sound
A life
Not fair, not fair.
But a life
To live
To heal
To clean
To forgive.
